Sorbead™ WS
Water-resistant adsorbent, also known as KC-Trockenperlen®
WS
BASF Sorbead™ WS waterresistant
silica gel adsorbents have high capacity and protect other
adsorbents and catalysts from water and moisture in a broad range
of applications.
The patented BASF Sorbead line of
highly efficient adsorbents are alumino-silicate gels in the form
of hard, spherical beads, with a very high resistance to crushing
and a low attrition rate. Sorbead adsorbents have a longer life
than most other adsorbents and can reduce operating costs in most
applications.
Sorbead WS is the only 100 %
water-resistant adsorbent with a high adsorption capacity. It is
most frequently used as a protective layer in combination with
Sorbead R or other adsorbents such as molecular sieves, activated
alumina, activated carbons and catalysts in order to increase the
reliability of the system. The high capacity of Sorbead WS enables
it to be used on a stand-alone basis as well.
With its high resistance against
hydrothermal aging and low regeneration temperature, Sorbead WS is
ideal for applications where adsorbent regeneration with humid gas
occurs (e.g. Heat-of-Compression and Blower-Purge air dryers, air
separation plants).
Description
Silica Gel Desiccant is not affected by water and is therefore
generally recommended as a buffer layer. It is far more resistant
to fracturing than other silica gels. The adsorption capacity is
slightly lower than SGA35 Silica Gel Desiccant but certainly high
enough to be used as a primary desiccant for a complete bed in
severe conditions.
