Heated Desiccant Dryers (also known as Regenerative Desiccant
Dryers) provide more consistent dew point than heatless
desiccant dryers and lower dew points than refrigerated dryers.
Instead of injecting processed purge air into the regeneration
tower, heated dryers pre-heat the purge air before it is used for
regeneration. In a heated desiccant dryer, typically 3-5% of
process air is used for purge as opposed to the 15% or more used in
heatless. Heating the regenerating purge air also extends the dryer
cycle time to several hours, preventing dewpoint spikes.
