A pressure switch is simply a device that reacts to the changing pressure in a system. As it reacts to that pressure change in the system the pressure switch generates or drops an outgoing signal that is used to initiate another action. In the case of our air compressor, the "another action" is to turn on or turn off the electric motor.
Commercial/Light Industrial Pressure Switch is used to control electrically driven water pumps and air compressors. It has higher electrical ratings for direct control of motors in pump and compressor applications. The Type G switch is diaphragm actuated and has contacts that open on rising pressure. Temp. range: -22° to 257°F.
